Appellate Court tosses ruling in Chiquita terror case

The U.S. 11th Cir­cuit Court of Ap­peals has tossed out a civil rul­ing claim­ing Chiquita Brands In­ter­na­tion­al was li­able for thou­sands of deaths suffered by Colom­bi­an res­id­ents dur­ing a bloody civil war. The claim con­ten­ded Chiquita helped fin­ance mil­it­ary groups in the re­gion, but the court ruled it had no jur­is­dic­tion be­cause the al­leged crimes happened out­side of the U.S.
