After meet­ing BYD of­fi­cials with the as­sist­ance of then-County Su­per­visor Mi­chael Ant­onovich’s wife, Los Angeles area eco­nom­ic de­vel­op­ment of­fi­cials cre­ated a pro­pos­al to BYD that ad­dressed its as­sembly plant pro­jec­tions and in­terest in U.S. sub­sidies for elec­tric vehicles.
