DA cleared Pasadena officers who fatally shot Kendrec McDade
Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against two Pasadena police officers who fatally shot 19-year-old Kendrec McDade in March 2012. The district attorney’s office determined the officers reasonably believed that McDade was armed based on a false 911 report from a caller who claimed his laptop had been stolen by two men at gunpoint. The crime turned out to be a simple theft by another young man who had been with McDade. McDade was shot after he ran from police.
