    By the morn­ing after Salaz­ar’s slay­ing, the FBI in Wash­ing­ton had been aler­ted about the in­cid­ent. This memo says the bur­eau was in­formed of the killing by a “con­fid­en­tial source who has fur­nished re­li­able in­form­a­tion in the past.”
