On Jan. 30, 1980, The Times re­por­ted that Jimmy Dur­ante, pi­an­ist, comedi­an, sing­er, act­or and dan­cer, who con­trib­uted migh­tily to the mangled rich­ness of the Eng­lish lan­guage, had died.
