LAPD statement on misclassified crime

A Times in­vest­ig­a­tion this week re­vealed that the LAPD mis­clas­si­fied nearly 1,200 vi­ol­ent crimes dur­ing a re­cent one-year peri­od. The agency’s ci­vil­ian watch­dog said Monday he would launch a broad in­quiry in­to the ac­cur­acy of the de­part­ment’s crime stat­ist­ics. Here is the LAPD’s re­sponse to The Times’ story.
