Lawyers for alleged “Grim Sleeper” serial killer seek to prevent death penalty

De­fense at­tor­neys for Lon­nie Frank­lin Jr., who pro­sec­utors al­lege was the so-called “Grim Sleep­er” seri­al killer sus­pec­ted in more than 10 slay­ings in Los Angeles, asked a judge to pro­hib­it pro­sec­utors from seek­ing the death pen­alty. The at­tor­neys ar­gue that ge­net­ic ma­ter­i­al from an­oth­er man was found on items col­lec­ted at the crime scenes of three of the vic­tims linked to their cli­ent and that evid­ence from some of the crime scenes has been des­troyed.
