    Little Hoover pension report

In a report to Gov. Jerry Brown and lawmakers, the nonpartisan Little Hoover Commission warns government workers have been promised far more in retirement benefits than their pension funds will have the cash to cover.

The report cites the benefit increases provided by scores of local governments in the midst of the recession as a prime example of poor fiscal management.
