Prince, one of the best-selling pop artists of all time, died April 21, 2016, in his re­cord­ing stu­dio in Chan­hassen, Minn.. The Los Angeles first men­tioned Prince in an art­icle about his de­but per­form­ance at the Roxy. This story ori­gin­ally ran in The Times on Nov. 29, 1979.
