Police monitor KMEX newscasts

This is one of two tran­scripts of KMEX-TV even­ing news­casts that were in the LAPD file on Ruben Salaz­ar. The news­man was hired by Span­ish-lan­guage sta­tion in Janu­ary 1970 to dir­ect its fledgling news op­er­a­tion. Former sta­tion Vice Pres­id­ent Joe Rank told the The Times that Salaz­ar quickly made a de­cision to leave The Times for KMEX. “I was sur­prised at how easy a sell it was,” Rank said in an in­ter­view. Salaz­ar wrote a weekly column for The Times while he worked at KMEX.
