Read the full Supreme Court decision on gay marriage

In a much-anticipated decision, the Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry nationwide without regard to their state’s laws.

The 5-4 opinion, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, will stand as a landmark in civil rights law and culminates a two-decade long struggle for gays and lesbians to win marriage equality under the Constitution.
