    Letter sent in 1943 arrives in 2011

    About a month ago, re­tired Iowa farm­er Tilford Teig, 85, re­ceived a phone call from a per­son whose name and po­s­i­tion he didn’t catch. The caller asked wheth­er Teig wanted an old let­ter sent by his older broth­er Mervin to their par­ents, all are now de­ceased.

    The let­ter, post­marked May 19, 1943, was writ­ten by Mervin when he was sta­tioned at Cali­for­nia’s Camp Roberts, north of Paso Robles.
