D.A. declines charges after inquiry into whether an L.A. sheriff’s detective improperly helped a judge
Los Angeles County prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence to file misdemeanor charges against sheriff’s Det. Mark Lillienfeld after an investigation examined whether he illegally helped a judge who was charged with battery. Lillienfeld and the judge, Craig Richman, had known each other for years. Richman was ultimately acquitted of battery after a trial.
