Read the immigration policy used by some California police that the ACLU is criticizing

The Amer­ic­an Civil Liber­ties Uni­on of South­ern Cali­for­nia has cri­ti­cized an im­mig­ra­tion policy the or­gan­iz­a­tion says is used by at least 11 po­lice de­part­ments in the state. The ACLU says the policy en­cour­ages loc­al law en­force­ment to en­force im­mig­ra­tion law. Some de­part­ments who have the policy on their books in­sist they non­ethe­less don’t en­force im­mig­ra­tion law.
