Charles Loeser will excerpts
In a handwritten will, Charles A. Loeser donated eight of his 15 paintings by Cezanne “to the President of the United States of America and his successors in office for the adornment of the White House at Washington.” His young daughter Matilda was given a life interest in the Cezannes. Under pressure, she relinquished them in 1950.
