Indictment against U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez

U.S. Sen. Robert Men­en­dez (D- N.J.) was charged Wed­nes­day by a fed­er­al grand jury in his home state of New Jer­sey with bribery and con­spir­acy in try­ing to help a long­time friend in South Flor­ida. Men­en­dez and Sa­lomon Mel­gen face one count of con­spir­acy, one count of vi­ol­at­ing the travel act, eight counts of bribery and three counts of hon­est ser­vices fraud. Men­en­dez was also charged with one count of mak­ing false state­ments.
