Jacqueline Kennedy letter to Matilda Loeser Calnan
Jacqueline Kennedy was the first to hang any of the Cezanne paintings in the White House. In the spring of 1961 she invited the donor’s daughter, who lived in Europe, to come see them in the Green Room. Loeser’s granddaughter, Philippa Calnan, came the next month in her mother’s stead.
