Lawyers for alleged “Grim Sleeper” serial killer seek to prevent death penalty
Defense attorneys for Lonnie Franklin Jr., who prosecutors allege was the so-called “Grim Sleeper” serial killer suspected in more than 10 slayings in Los Angeles, asked a judge to prohibit prosecutors from seeking the death penalty. The attorneys argue that genetic material from another man was found on items collected at the crime scenes of three of the victims linked to their client and that evidence from some of the crime scenes has been destroyed.
