Motion calling for City Council hearing on LAFD inspections

Two L.A. City Coun­cil mem­bers asked the LAFD to ap­pear be­fore a city pan­el and con­sider hir­ing out­side staff to catch up on an over­due in­spec­tion back­log.

The ac­tion fol­lowed a Times in­vest­ig­a­tion that found the de­part­ment was months and even years be­hind on in­spec­tions of build­ings it clas­si­fies as a top pri­or­ity mainly be­cause they’re oc­cu­pied by large num­bers of people.
