The Na­tion­al Se­cur­ity Agency, fa­cing wide­spread cri­ti­cism fol­low­ing leaked in­form­a­tion from former con­tract­or Ed­ward Snowden, re­leased its jus­ti­fic­a­tions for its vari­ous sur­veil­lance pro­grams, as Pres­id­ent Obama de­fen­ded the agency dur­ing a press con­fer­ence.
