Sacramento officer involved in 1997 death

Sac­ra­mento County’s dis­trict at­tor­ney in 1997 cleared Of­ficer John Ten­nis of the death of a po­lice sus­pect whose throat was crushed dur­ing a neck hold. Ten­nis was one of two of­ficers who first sought to run over a men­tally ill man be­lieved to have a gun, then shot him 14 times at close range.
