State letter revoking certification of former Cedars-Sinai nursing assistant

A nurs­ing as­sist­ant who worked at Ce­dars-Sinai Med­ic­al Cen­ter is un­der in­vest­ig­a­tion for al­legedly sexu­ally as­sault­ing two pa­tients while they were heav­ily med­ic­ated and too weak to res­ist, ac­cord­ing to court re­cords and in­ter­views. Po­lice iden­ti­fied the sus­pect in a search war­rant filed earli­er this year as Guillermo Fernando Diaz, 56. The state’s De­part­ment of Pub­lic Health said it re­voked Diaz’ nurs­ing as­sist­ant cer­ti­fic­a­tion in Novem­ber after con­duct­ing an in­vest­ig­a­tion in­to sexu­al as­sault al­leg­a­tions made against him. The agency sent Diaz this let­ter no­ti­fy­ing him of its de­cision. A hos­pit­al spokes­wo­man said Diaz was fired in Ju­ly. Diaz de­clined to com­ment.
