Letter sent in 1943 arrives in 2011
About a month ago, retired Iowa farmer Tilford Teig, 85, received a phone call from a person whose name and position he didn’t catch. The caller asked whether Teig wanted an old letter sent by his older brother Mervin to their parents, all are now deceased.
The letter, postmarked May 19, 1943, was written by Mervin when he was stationed at California’s Camp Roberts, north of Paso Robles.
