Use-of-force at Men’s Central Jail

Depu­ties as­signed to the third floor of Men’s Cent­ral Jail had the highest num­ber of use-of-force in­cid­ents against in­mates dur­ing a re­cent four-year peri­od com­pared to oth­er areas of the down­town Los Angeles fa­cil­ity. The dis­tinc­tion, however, does not ne­ces­sar­ily in­dic­ate force there is ex­cess­ive. The floor houses in­mates with more vi­ol­ent his­tor­ies, of­fi­cials say.
