Veterans Affairs draft master plan for West Los Angeles campus
After months of deliberations with former soldiers and community groups, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released its draft master plan calling for transforming its long-neglected West Los Angeles campus into a residential and treatment community . The plan calls for 1,200 permanent supportive efficiencies, studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments and 740 short term housing units fanning out from a town center with a cinema, fitness center, café, library and bike sharing station. Veterans and lawyers were guardedly optimistic about the plan, but cautioned enormous work by the VA is ahead to execute the plan.
